National Allotment Week 12-18 August

We wanted to take this opportunityto highlight that you should grow your own fruit and veg where possible. Even if the only spare space you have is a windowsill, you can still grow some herbs and place a pot of tomatoes in some sunlight.

Growing your own produce means it could never be fresher with absolutely no tampering.

If you have the time and opportunity to invest in an allotment plot, this can have a great social advantage, as well as the added benefit of increased exercise. Each plot in the UK can benefit up to 8 people, so therefore your healthy produce can be shared with family, friends and colleagues.

A small flowerbed is enough space to really start producing some delicious food. Some fruit and vegetables that are easy to grow and nurture include:

  • Tomatoes
  • Lettuce
  • Spinach
  • Green beans
  • Carrots
  • Cucumbers
  • Peppers

Choose some family favourites to ensure your dedication won’t go to waste.

Nothing beats home grown!
