I was not proactively considering taking part in a healthy eating programme but listening to the Buzz Session (a healthy eating workshop) I realised I could do with a few changes. 

Over the last 2 ½ years I have noticed I have gradually been putting on weight and subconsciously I knew I had to do something about it. My weight gain was gradual, hardly noticeable but I felt I would balloon eventually. This programme was the catalyst for change. 

My goals included certain key points;

  • Reducing chest size
  • Reducing waist size
  • Feeling generally more healthy
  • Reducing tiredness and having more energy
  • To lose weight  and reduce my BMI which was heading towards the red

 

Here are my starting and finishing statistics, the results speak for themselves.

I feel 80% more alert in the afternoon now, compared to how I felt before the programme.

I am very pleased and quite amazed at how really easy the dietary changes were, based on the impact they have made. Eating more in overall terms, I have felt more contented because I expected that losing weight suggested I would have to eat less, but of course it is eating the right foods and eating plenty of them that is key to my successful weight loss. Whilst I had to introduce some discipline, I did find following this programme easier than I expected. In terms of some of the foods that I previously ate a lot of, they included bread, pasta, potatoes and sugary drinks. I just don’t eat pasta or bread anymore. I now eat a small amount of potatoes; small amounts of mash, new potatoes or roasties from time to time.

I no longer eat processed foods. Along with the pasta, the pasta sauce has gone too and things like chocolate I have definitely cut down on.

My energy level at 3-4pm in the afternoon was low and that was because I never used to eat anything to keep me going. Now I make sure I eat a healthy, energy boosting snack. I feel 80% more alert in the afternoon now, compared to how I felt before the programme. 

The planning element is massively important for me, particularly during the week at work but also for evening meals. I make sure I have discussed our planned evening meals with my wife and that they fit in with my family and the programme. The simple fact is that the whole family are now eating more healthily.

A big change is the planning and organising of my daily food. During the week I need to make sure I’m organised with my porridge oats for breakfast, bottles of water and mixed nuts for snacks. I have to make sure all of this is readily accessible and to hand.  

The programme itself was brilliant, very easy to follow and has made it easy to continue.  I can’t see why I would ever go back to eating the foods I used to eat.

For a recent Team Meeting I decided to provide healthy snacks to keep people energised. Bringing ; oat cakes, hummus and a couple of different types of crudités plus babybel cheeses. I also provided biscuits to give people the choice. Interestingly all the healthy snacks went down very well indeed and were all eaten. 

My eating habits have changed both at work and at home and have now become a healthy lifestyle. 

I would like to give credit to Anna Mason because I think the programme has been excellent. The calls, although short, were very focussed and the information and response was quick and valuable. Anna was always on hand. The programme itself was brilliant, very easy to follow and has made it easy to continue.  I can’t see why I would ever go back to eating the foods I used to eat.
